Canden Schwantes is a historian and tour guide in Washington, D.C., and manages Free Tours By Foot, an international walking-tour company. When she isn't showing tourists and locals around the sites of her favorite neighborhoods, Canden volunteers at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. With a BA from Elon University and a masters from University College London, both in history, researching (and talking about) the stories of our past continues to be a favorite pastime. Canden has a penchant for historical fiction, off-trail hiking, traveling to new locales and listening to her husband, Manny Arciniega, in any of his musical endeavors.
