After graduating from university, Alison Baxter travelled the world as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language before returning to the UK to work in educational publishing. She then ran a charity in her home city of Oxford. After her retirement she became a writer, publishing her first book, A Cornish Cargo, about her seafaring ancestors, in 2020.
