
Andreas Franz (1954 - 2011) was a German author, best remembered for his numerous crime novels.
The son of two musicians from East Germany, he later moved west with his family, and worked in numerous jobs. In 1997, he gave up his last job as a translator to become a full-time writer, quickly becoming popular through his Julia Durant series of crime/mystery novels. Franz lived near Frankfurt with his wife and four children until his death from heart failure at the age of 57.
