John Davies (b. 1948) was born into a Welsh mining family, in the village of Cwmafan. He attended Glanafan Grammar school and worked for thirty years as a chemist with BP Chemicals at Baglan Bay.
Since retiring, John has pursued his hobbies of music, athletics and literature. He has written many songs, poems, short stories and books, including Hewl, Chester to Chepstow, Lyrics and Limericks, and the Darren the Dragon series. He began writing for children, when his first grandchild was born. He decided to continue writing in this genre, because it suits his childish nature!
