Jonangpa Tāranātha ("Liberating Protector of Jonang," born Kunga Nyingpo) was a scholar of Sanskrit and important author and teacher of Buddhist philosophy in the Gelugpa school of Tibet, and particularly of the Jonangpa sect from which his honorific is drawn, during the rise of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama.
