"Cool Lady" is about a man who sets out to search the identity of a kinky dream woman from a drawing he drew of her.
"Flood" and "Firefly" are about a family coping with village politics and a flood.

Volume two:
"Congregation," "Abyss," "Bottom of the Reservoir," "Underwater Stream," "Flood," and "Horizon Over the Water" are about the same family dealing with loss and with water.
