Mystery writer Jessica Fletcher takes a three-night train trip with her friend Reggie Weems and his railroad association friends through scenic British Columbia. But then a member of the entourage takes a sip of a Bloody Mary and dies, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police begin investigating.

A few days later, the suspects gather in the Starlight Express dinner car in North Vancouver. They are eager to hear the results of Jessica's unplanned sleuthing. But all of them are wary that fireworks could break out again and everyone's plans may be derailed by even more death.
