Note from the author: For those who are curious as to why I replied to a certain review and have since been hit with an influx of 1 stars, I replied due to a plagiarism claim (I have the proof for anyone who does not believe me). Plagiarism is something I take very seriously and I would never, ever dream of copying an author's work. We pour everything into our books and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I stole from an artist. So when I was accused by a reviewer of copying another MM series, I replied to say that I hadn't, and politely explained why. This has since resulted in bullying and harassment and Goodreads actually had to get involved because no kind of bullying is acceptable, and while I tried to control the situation myself, it wasn't possible due to the number of the reviewer's friends joining in. Readers are entitled to their opinions 100%, and in my whole career, I've only replied when I had to defend my book against an accusation (plagiarism) and to ask someone to insert spoilers (because the book hadn't been released yet and would ruin it for readers). I have never attacked any of my critical reviews, and anyone who knows me, knows I'm not that kind of person. I will, however, defend my book if I'm being unfairly accused of a crime I did not commit. That's the sole reason why I commented. This has resulted in more bullying, attacking, and name-calling.
