The thesis of Shaykh ʻAbd al-Qadir as-Sufi's new work will have far-reaching effects on Muslims throughout the world. What is outlined in this short work is no less than an intellectual assessment of the pure and original Salafi way, seeing the recent islamic scholarship of this century as an aberration forced on Islam as through colonial influence. It points to the true method of social transformation that has been the continued programme of renewal of islamic social systems. Thus, in place of the uncritical acceptance of kafir social models and structures which have marked the almost complete destruction of Islam in this century, Shaykh ʻAbd al-Qadir proposes the model of the Ribat as exemplified by the Al-Moravides of Spain, Shaykh ʻUthman dan Fodio in northern Nigeria, and Shaykh Sanussi in this century in southern Libya, as the key to a new Salafi Islam alread emerging in the post-industrial age.
