First published 1965, "rooze avale ghabr" (The First Day in the Grave) by Sadegh Chubak is a collection of short stories and one play in three acts. The title story of this collection entails the efforts of a young intellectual who feels he must protect the people from a religious performer and storyteller, and tries, unsuccessfully, to destroy the performer's story-telling canvas screen. This edition includes also the short story "Omar-Koshun."
