Namjai: An Intergenerational Tribute Anthology of Bay Area Asian Pacific Islander Poets is the first volume to pay homage to and celebrate Bay Area Asian Pacific Islander (BAAPI) poets and spoken word artists. We push to share the stories that both reflect our community and take part in re-imagining it. These are our stories, our truths, and our spirits to reclaim, renew, and embody.

This compilation of poetry highlights each poet's selflessness that defines Namjai, a cherished Thai expression describing the flow from the heart and the generosity and care in taking care of others. As we share these poems, we share parts of our own hearts that we give graciously back to the Bay Area community.

About The ReWrite:
Born from the organizing of the 2009 Bay Area APIA Spoken Word and Poetry Summit, The ReWrite is a spoken word and poetry collective featuring and fostering Asian Pacific Islander poets. Utilizing shared stories to participate in revitalizing the movement for Asian American and Pacific Islander writers/poets in the Bay Area, The ReWrite aims to celebrate and bring to light the diverse identities and multigenerational make-up of our communities.
