More Details

Linear A is a 4,000 year old writing system that was used on the island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea. Inscriptions from clay tablets at the southern Minoan settlement of Hagia Triada came to light more than 60 years ago, but a consensus has not yet been reached on the language or interpretation of Linear A.

Linear A is one of the great puzzles of our time. This is a digital reference to help introduce newcomers to the inscriptions found on the administrative clay tablets from Hagia Triada.

Included in this searchable digital reference are:
- Over 40 meticulous facsimiles of Linear A inscriptions from the clay tablets of Hagia Triada
- 60 years of hypotheses for more than 30 sign groups and a variety of logograms which recur on multiple tablets at Hagia Triada
- A supplement to Packard's 1974 appendices treating the prefixes, infixes and postfixes of Linear A digrams
