When Paul Standish first met Walter Killy he found him immensely likeable, already high on the union executive roster and steadily on his way up. He seemed like a perfect teacher for an eager apprentice like Paul. Their first assignment was to travel to a small city in response to several letters from a disgruntled worker tired of the company union that operated there. When they arrive all hell breaks loose. Almost at once they are picked up by the police. Paul, still young and idealistic, is shocked at this matter-of-fact police brutality. When they are released they discover that they have been picked up on suspicion of murder. They are, indeed, deeply involved.
