Adolf Hitler is considered one of history’s most dangerous men. In addition to his attempts to destroy an entire race of people, he also manipulated an entire country into supporting his efforts. He was responsible for one of the darkest periods in human history.

Today, the effects of what he accomplished are still felt. His concentration camps, which were the site of millions of deaths, stand as a testament to the atrocities he performed. Many believe events throughout Hitler’s life turned him into the cruel dictator he would become, while others view him born as a monster.

How could an entire country have accepted such a cruel man as its leader? Most countries living under extreme dictatorships did not choose their political fate. Dictators take power and those under their rule must accept the consequences without question. Hitler is a rare case in which the people he led went willingly and accepted his hateful manipulation. He was a master of propaganda and few questioned his beliefs. By the time people began to see his true agenda, he had built a military and private police force so powerful, nobody could take action.

Anyone reflecting on the events of the mid-20th century must ask how one of history’s cruelest men could gain the support of millions of Germans and be able to exterminate millions of people without resistance. The period of time in which Hitler carried out his plans serves as a warning to future generations concerning power and manipulation, and what can happen when the world turns a blind eye to its fellow man.
