Back in the 1950s, Yemen was a closed country similar to Tibet, ruled by an Imam who frowned on foreigners having any access whatever to his country. But doctors were needed, especially women doctors as men could not treat the opposite sex. Hence, a French doctor eventually wound up working there. This is the story and some of her impressions.
