Patti LaBoucane-Benson is a Métis woman and the Director of Research, Training, and Communication at Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA). She has been very fortunate to work with the amazing people at NCSA for 20 years!
She has a Ph.D. in Human Ecology, focusing on Aboriginal Family Resilience. Her research focusses on how providing historic trauma healing opportunities for Aboriginalpeople builds resilience in Aboriginal families and communities. Patti was awarded the two top Canadian social sciences doctoral awards: The Pierre Elliot Trudeau scholarship and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Fellowship
She has also been the recipient of the Aboriginal Role Model of Alberta Award for Education, the Legal Aid of Alberta Access to Justice Award and the Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship.
Patti is most likely, right now, working on a community-based reconciliation project somewhere in Alberta. Join her!
