Elisa Pierandrei is an Italian journalist and author, and also a filmmaker. Recently her articles have appeared in the magazines D - La Repubblica and Il Venerdì - La Repubblica, and online on Al Jazeera English, Contemporary And, Al-Monitor and The New Arab, among others. She wrote the books 'Painting, Photography, Drawing. From Africa and Its Diaspora' (Self Publisher, 2022) and 'Urban Cairo. La Primavera araba dei graffiti' (InformAnt | eBook Quotidiani editore, 2012 and 2014). She also gives academic seminars about contemporary Arab media and culture and writes essays for books. Elisa Pierandrei holds a master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the American University in Cairo (2002) after graduating in Arabic Language and Literature at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (1998). In collaboration with photographer Loris Savino and videomaker Marco di Noia, she is the author of the 2011 short film “M.A.R.E., storie di Mediterraneo, arabi, rivolte ed Europa.”
