I was born and raised in Nebraska. At age 20 I graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's degree in education. I taught school in New York state, Georgia and Florida, but after 5 years I returned to Nebraska. Back in Nebraska I went to work for a major insurance company and remained there for 29 years. During that time I married...my wife died (at age 50) of lung and brain cancer.
I started writing poetry in high school -- and contnued writing poetry and short stories throughout the years. While working for the insurance company, I wrote and co-wrote a number of insurance textbooks/company manuals and served as a claims-legal liaison and as a claims investigator.
In retirement I opened a short-lived art gallery -- and, in turn, became an avid art collector. In 2005 I began painting my own impressionistic-style paintings...friends have recommended that I "drop everything" and paint for one year, so that I can have an art showing next year. I also collect antique glassware...on my mother's death in 2008, my collection doubled -- to almost 600 pieces.
