He holds a Master's degree in Protected Area Management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and consults on conservation and tourism projects in southern Africa. He also teaches tourism at a tertiary institution in Johannesburg and is the author of 12 books on South Africa, Kenya and the United States of America.
